Barcelona Star Publicly Airs Grievances: “I Deserve to Play More”

Football

Despite Hansi Flick’s efforts to foster a positive team environment within the Barcelona dressing room, recent cracks have begun to appear. The latest involves Roony Bardghji, who has endured a challenging debut season at Spotify Camp Nou.

Bardghji arrived last summer from FC Copenhagen, and while he has consistently impressed whenever called upon by Flick, his opportunities have been restricted to just 22 appearances across all competitions, with the majority of these coming as a substitute.

Now, Bardghji has publicly voiced his dissatisfaction regarding his lack of minutes. Speaking to Sverige Television, he stated, “The truth is, up until now, my playing time has been minimal. I possess patience, but frankly, I believe I merit more chances on the field. I’m not entirely content, yet this is the reality of football. I respect my long-standing teammates; they are colleagues. I know my capabilities and have great self-belief.”

Bardghji’s Barcelona Future Uncertain Ahead of Summer Window

During the previous winter transfer window, Bardghji was linked with a potential exit from Barcelona, with clubs like FC Porto reportedly showing interest. At that time, Flick firmly rejected any moves for the young Swedish winger. However, the upcoming summer could present new opportunities for him to depart.

Barcelona is currently in the market for a new winger, with Marcus Rashford reportedly a top target, though a versatile player capable of operating on both flanks is the preferred profile. Should such a player arrive, it would likely push Bardghji further down the pecking order on the right wing, potentially paving the way for a loan spell or a permanent transfer.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Bardghji will undoubtedly be a player to watch closely. His recent comments, which are unlikely to please Flick, may well have expedited his path towards a Barcelona exit.
