Barcelona continues its efforts to raise funds by moving players off the books, and the latest to depart is a promising academy talent: Noah Darvich.
Two years ago, Barcelona signed Darvich from Bundesliga side Freiburg for a fee of €2.5 million, and his arrival generated considerable anticipation. He had been part of the German national youth setup, and hopes were high that he would fulfill his potential in Catalonia.
Noah Darvich set to leave Barcelona for Germany return
However, it didn`t work out as planned. Darvich hasn`t made a single first-team appearance for Barcelona during his two years at the club and is now expected to leave. As reported by Florian Plettenburg, he is slated to return to Germany soon to join Stuttgart.
Darvich will join Stuttgart on a permanent transfer, with terms having been agreed with Barcelona. The Bundesliga club has been pursuing the teenager since last month and appears to have secured a seemingly favorable deal.
Reports indicate that Barcelona will receive a modest fee for selling Darvich. Crucially, the deal reportedly includes no release clause, no buy-back option, or matching rights for the Catalan club. As a result, they will relinquish control over his future trajectory.
Hansi Flick has provided opportunities to several La Masia players since taking over as head coach last summer, but Darvich was not among them. With this sale, it is believed that Barcelona no longer values him as highly as they once did.
Darvich`s prospects of being involved with the first team next season would have been even slimmer, particularly considering Raphinha is anticipated to play as an attacking midfielder following the planned arrival of Nico Williams. Thus, a sale makes sense for all parties involved, but retaining no control over his future is a notable drawback for Barcelona.
