Despite an impressive initial tally of 10 goals, the 28-year-old’s form has notably declined over the past two months, failing to register a goal in his last six competitive outings.
However, at 28 and seemingly serving as Raphinha’s backup, questions arise whether a €30 million investment for him aligns with Barcelona’s constrained financial strategy. While Barcelona favors extending his stay with another loan, Manchester United is justifiably unwilling to agree to such terms.
Manchester United is eager to offload Rashford permanently. Should Barcelona decline to purchase him, United is prepared to entertain offers from other clubs, recognizing the England international’s considerable interest, including reported strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.
Barcelona’s Dilemma: Rashford’s Future
While Rashford has undeniably proven successful at Barcelona and reportedly wishes to stay, securing a permanent transfer is proving hard to justify. A more sensible approach for the club might be to invest in a younger, developmental player, mirroring the acquisition of Roony Bardghji for the opposite wing last summer.
Even if Barcelona manages to restore their 1:1 spending rule with La Liga before summer, significant funds will still be required for crucial center-back and striker acquisitions. Consequently, allocating €30 million for Rashford might not be the most strategic use of their resources.
