Bournemouth has secured their initial signing of the summer transfer window. The club has reportedly reached an agreement with Stade Rennais for the transfer of promising left-back, Adrien Truffert.
Reports indicate that the French side accepted an offer potentially rising to €17 million, following the rejection of two previous bids from Bournemouth.
Truffert is a product of the Rennes youth system, having progressed through their academy ranks before making his senior debut in September 2020.
He has since established himself as a regular fixture for the Ligue 1 club, accumulating 191 appearances across all competitions and finding the back of the net nine times.
Last season, the 23-year-old featured prominently for Rennes, missing only one league match through suspension as his team finished 12th in the French top flight.
During the previous campaign, he demonstrated solid defensive capabilities, averaging 1.6 clearances, 1.8 tackles, and 4.2 ball recoveries per game in Ligue 1.
Considering the fee and the potential of the France international, this acquisition appears to be a smart move for Bournemouth.
The signing comes as the Cherries anticipate potentially losing Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, with Truffert seemingly brought in as a direct replacement.
This transfer reflects continued backing for manager Andoni Iraola, who has overseen significant positive developments at the Vitality Stadium since taking charge in 2023 and deserves support in strengthening the squad.
