Chiquinho Leaves Wolverhampton for Permanent Alverca Transfer

Football News

Portuguese winger Chiquinho`s chapter at Wolverhampton Wanderers has come to a definitive close. The 25-year-old player is heading back to Portugal, signing a permanent deal with FC Alverca, a club newly promoted to the Primeira Liga.

The transfer sees Chiquinho commit to Alverca for the next three seasons. Interestingly, Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured a 40 percent stake in any future profit generated from a subsequent sale of the player by Alverca. This detail was reported by football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, confirming the terms of the permanent departure.

A Brief Molineux Stint Concludes

Chiquinho initially joined Wolves from Estoril during the January transfer window of the 2021/22 season. His time at Molineux proved to be less impactful than perhaps hoped. After integrating via the U23 squad, opportunities in the senior team were limited. In his first season, he made nine appearances, registering three assists. His subsequent years were spent away from the club on various loan spells.

These temporary moves included a period at Stoke City, followed by a return to Portugal with Famalicão for the 2023/24 campaign. The most recent season saw him loaned to Spanish side Mallorca for the second half, where he featured in nine matches. This series of temporary assignments underscores the difficulty Chiquinho faced in establishing himself as a regular fixture in the Wolves lineup.

The permanent switch to Alverca now offers Chiquinho a fresh start in a familiar league environment. For FC Alverca, having just achieved promotion back to the top tier of Portuguese football, securing a player with experience across different leagues and still at a relatively young age represents a significant reinforcement for their squad as they prepare to compete at the highest level once more.

Chiquinho is part of Alverca`s active recruitment drive this summer, which also includes the recent signing of 25-year-old Brazilian left winger Léo Chú from FC Dallas, signalling the club`s clear intentions to strengthen their ranks ahead of the new season.
