Chivu: “It’s a Real Competition, We Want to Honor it Fully. Happy for Esposito”

Football News

Inter coach Cristian Chivu spoke to DAZN following the 2-0 victory over River Plate in the Club World Cup. He stated, “The team approached this as a serious match and was determined to progress. We struggled with their intensity and pressure in the first half, but after the break, we played more directly and secured the win, advancing to the round of 16. We face another tough match on Monday night; we`ll need to recover physically and mentally and be fully prepared for our next opponent.”

Addressing praise for players like Carboni and now Esposito, Chivu commented, “If I`m not mistaken, his birthday is coming up soon, so he`ll owe us dinner or something… I`m really pleased for him. It wasn`t an easy game to handle, but he played a fantastic match, just like the rest of his teammates.”

Asked if he would like Esposito available for the league team, Chivu replied, “I don`t tend to look too far ahead. I always aim to find solutions and provide opportunities for everyone to feel valued and to discover their energy, ambition, and character. The future remains to be seen. For now, our focus is entirely on the task here at the Club World Cup. It`s a genuine and significant competition, and we are determined to give it our absolute best.”
