Como Aims to Replicate Nico Paz Strategy with New Real Madrid Starlet

Football

Real Madrid is widely anticipated to bring Nico Paz back from Como during the upcoming summer transfer window. The decision has already been made for the 21-year-old to return to the Bernabéu after two impressive seasons in Italian football, where he is expected to take on a significant role from next season onwards.

Como initially acquired Paz in the summer of 2024 for a modest €6 million. Although they will only net a €3 million profit upon his return to Real Madrid, his invaluable contribution to Cesc Fabregas’ squad over the past two seasons has proven highly beneficial. Consequently, it’s no surprise that Como is now actively seeking to replicate this successful model, once again setting their sights on Real Madrid’s youth academy, Valdebebas.

According to football journalist Nicolo Schira, Como is keen on repeating the “Paz trick” with Daniel Yanez, a player who has recently been on the fringes of Real Madrid’s first team. The 19-year-old, who made a notable impression coming off the bench in a recent match against Elche, is considered a prime candidate to join the high-flying Serie A side this summer.

Yanez: Another Young Talent for Como’s Development Path

Como has consistently targeted younger players in the transfer market, a strategy that has yielded remarkable success. In addition to Paz, they have brought in talents like Jacobo Ramon, Assane Diao, and Jesus Rodriguez, all from Spain. Yanez could very well be their next acquisition.

Yanez has been a standout performer for Real Madrid in this season’s UEFA Youth League. There is a strong sentiment that this summer will be the ideal time for him to become the latest La Fábrica graduate to transition into senior professional football. As was the case with Paz, it is almost certain that any agreement would include a buy-back clause for Real Madrid. Given the established relationship between the two clubs, Como would undoubtedly be the frontrunner to secure his signature.
