Dani Carvajal’s Emotional Farewell to Real Madrid: “We Have to Get Back Up”

Football

Dani Carvajal concluded his tenure as a Real Madrid player following the team’s 4-2 victory over Athletic Club. The seasoned defender, whose contract officially expires next month, marked his final match with an assist and addressed the Bernabéu crowd in an emotional post-game speech.

According to Diario AS, Carvajal became visibly moved to tears while speaking to Real Madrid supporters, extending his appreciation to figures like Florentino Pérez and his teammates.

“Good evening, Madridistas. This is a difficult moment for me to speak due to the overwhelming emotion of this great farewell. My sincere gratitude goes first to our president, Don Florentino. He was instrumental in bringing me back from Germany, and together we’ve achieved numerous Champions League titles. Perhaps the most significant gesture was his decision to renew my contract less than 24 hours after my knee injury, without any hesitation.”

“I also want to thank my teammates. While the past two seasons haven’t been easy, I am confident we will triumph again. This is Real Madrid, and as our history dictates, we must always rise again. I can’t help but reflect on the golden era we’ve experienced, the culmination of a remarkable period marked by four Champions League titles in five years, La Décima, three consecutive European crowns, and the contributions of legendary figures like Cristiano, Ramos, Ancelotti, and Zidane. Their legacies have elevated this club to greatness and to the pinnacle of football.”

Carvajal Hopes for a Future Return to Real Madrid

Speaking to RMTV after his final game, Carvajal voiced his aspiration to return to the club in a different capacity following his retirement.

“It’s hard to put into words. You become emotional without fully understanding why. Witnessing the training ground yesterday, seeing the tifo prepared for me today, and hearing the ovations… how could I not be moved? I am closing a magnificent chapter in my career, an unimaginable journey. My heart is filled with gratitude towards the club and the fans. Thank you; I’ve enjoyed every moment, from the first day to the last, as if I were a child. I hope they feel the same way. I aspire to return to my home, in a different role, but always to contribute.”
