Decision Made: Real Madrid to Activate €9M Buy-Back Clause This Summer

Football

Real Madrid is actively preparing for the summer transfer window, and one significant acquisition is already considered virtually complete. The club’s management intends to exercise its buy-back options available this summer, and the first of these will be the return of talented midfielder Nico Paz.

21-year-old Nico Paz, who has been playing for Como since 2024, has made a real sensation with his performances. Although the club decided not to activate a buy-back clause last summer, the situation has now changed. According to reports from Diario AS, Real Madrid has already made the final decision to bring Paz back into its ranks as soon as the window to activate the relevant clause opens.

€9 Million Deal: A Strategic Return for Real Madrid

The financial aspect of the deal is quite advantageous for the Madrid club. As part of the agreement with Como, concluded in 2024, Real Madrid retained several buy-back options. The first of these, valued at €8 million, expired last summer. However, the next one, set at €9 million, will be triggered this summer. Considering that Paz has scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists in Serie A this season, and is regularly called up for training camps with the main Argentina national team, this deal looks highly appealing for future prospects.

The only thing that could prevent Paz’s return to Real Madrid is his personal unwillingness. However, it is widely expected that the player will not decline such a significant opportunity, which is why the club has already begun preparations for his comeback.

The upcoming summer promises to be significant for Paz. He has a good chance of being included in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America. After the tournament concludes, he is expected to permanently return to Real Madrid. It will be interesting to see how he adapts back at his home club, although for now, his primary focus remains on his impressive performances for Como.
