Everton: Coleman Hails Moyes as ‘Ideal’ for New Era

Football News

Seamus Coleman has just signed a contract extension with Everton, committing his future to the club until 2026. This latest agreement continues a long-standing relationship that began back in January 2009, interrupted only briefly by a loan spell at Blackpool that same year. Following the signing, the Irish defender spoke to the club`s official media channels.

His comments particularly highlighted the impact of manager David Moyes, who returned to Goodison Park at the start of 2025 to help steer the team in a positive direction. Moyes himself has a deep understanding of the club environment, having previously managed the Toffees from 2002 to 2013.

“David Moyes is the ideal manager to guide us into a new era,” Coleman stated. “He has once again demonstrated his capabilities by getting us playing well since his return last season. He knows this club deeply, the standards required every day, and what it means to wear the Everton shirt.”

Coleman added, “He helped stabilize the team after his return; we have a manager who cares about Everton as much as I do. It is well known that many new faces will arrive this summer, and I hope to help them settle in as quickly as possible. After a complicated period last season due to injuries, I am focusing on working hard, spending as much time as possible on the field, and supporting Everton in every way possible.”
