Amidst the search for a new head coach by Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg, speculation had linked them with FC Copenhagen`s head coach, Jacob Neestrup.
However, a recent press release from the Danish capital club appears to significantly narrow down the possibilities for the German sides. Sharp-eyed journalist Philipp Hinze noted details suggesting Neestrup is set to remain in Copenhagen.
The club published a statement this afternoon which strongly implied Neestrup will be staying for the upcoming season, including the 2025-26 campaign:
`Jacob Neestrup will also be in charge as head coach for FC Copenhagen in the upcoming season. The inquiries that have been made to the head coach have been rejected.`
The statement added: `Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen and head coach Jacob Neestrup are both looking forward to the first day of training with the team on June 22, 2025.`
This official communication from FC Copenhagen suggests that despite reported interest from German clubs, Neestrup`s immediate future lies in Denmark.
