Florentino Perez Driving Real Madrid’s Interest in Bayern Winger Michael Olise

Football

Real Madrid is actively exploring various transfer targets this summer to bolster their squad. While some proposed deals appear ambitious, club president Florentino Perez is known for his ability to execute significant acquisitions, which typically appeases any discontent among fans at the Santiago Bernabéu.

A potential move for Bayern Munich’s highly-rated winger, Michael Olise, could certainly generate such enthusiasm. The France international has been on Real Madrid’s radar since February and has attracted attention from numerous elite European clubs. Earlier this month, Bayern vehemently denied any intention of considering offers for Olise, despite reports suggesting a potential €160 million bid could be tabled this summer.

Florentino Perez Leading Real Madrid’s Pursuit of Olise

According to Christian Falk of CF Bayern Insider, Real Madrid’s interest in Olise is indeed legitimate and strong. The primary driving force behind this potential transfer is none other than President Florentino Perez, who holds ultimate decision-making power at the Bernabéu. Falk suggests that an underperforming season in Madrid could prompt increased spending, noting that key player Rodrygo Goes is not expected back until 2026, creating a potential need for a right-wing presence.

Bayern Munich Open to Considering a €160 Million Offer

The German transfer expert further indicates that while Bayern has no immediate plans to sell Olise, an offer in the region of €160 million would not be outright rejected. Falk’s understanding is that the Bayern hierarchy would engage in discussions if such a substantial bid were to materialize. Currently, Olise is under contract until 2029 and does not have a release clause in his deal.

Will Real Madrid Commit Significant Funds for Olise?

Following the pandemic, Los Blancos have generally adopted a more conservative approach to transfer spending. At 24 years old, Olise is at the upper limit of the age bracket Real Madrid typically targets for major investments. While it’s true that Real Madrid has sought a consistent presence on the right wing for some time, a move for Olise seems improbable unless either Vinicius Junior or Rodrygo is sold, or if the club’s transfer priorities shift significantly from their current focus elsewhere.
