Real Madrid’s current president, Florentino Perez, has publicly stated his intention to bring world-class talent to the club should he be re-elected. “They will arrive, as they always do,” Perez commented, fueling speculation about his potential transfer plans.
While the managerial position seems all but settled, with Jose Mourinho reportedly agreeing to terms to succeed Alvaro Arbeloa should Perez win the upcoming elections against Enrique Riquelme, the identity of new signings remains uncertain. It is understood that Mourinho’s immediate priorities lie in strengthening the center-back and central midfield positions, with full-backs also being an area of interest.
According to reports from Cadena Cope, Perez has identified three specific players he aims to acquire if he returns to power. One significant move could be the re-signing of Victor Munoz, who was transferred to Osasuna last summer. Real Madrid holds an €8 million buy-back option for their former academy graduate.
In terms of defensive reinforcements, Real Madrid is now being linked with Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan. The Italian defender has been a target for Barcelona in recent months, but their pursuit has reportedly stalled due to concerns about his suitability under potential manager Hansi Flick.
For the midfield, Perez’s ambitious plan involves securing the signing of Joao Neves from Paris Saint-Germain. While Vitinha has previously been rumored as a dream signing for Real Madrid, Neves is believed to be a player who would significantly enhance the team’s quality.
Beyond potential new acquisitions, the attacking front for Real Madrid presents a considerable challenge for any incoming manager. The partnership between Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe has not consistently gelled over the past two seasons, with previous coaching staff struggling to find an optimal balance when both are on the field. Addressing this attacking conundrum will likely be a top priority for Mourinho upon his return to the Bernabeu.
