Barcelona Midfielder Rejects Lucrative €40M Saudi Offer from Al-Qadsiah

Barcelona's activities in the recent January transfer window were notably restrained, with the club only finalizing the arrival of João Cancelo and the departures of Marc-André ter Stegen and Dro Fernandez. However, it has emerged that a significant player exit could have occurred, as a Saudi Arabian club reportedly made a compelling offer for one of Hansi Flick’s prominent midfielders.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that Al-Qadsiah had been closely monitoring Dani Olmo with an eye toward a potential summer transfer. Nevertheless, new information suggests that the Saudi Pro League side had already attempted to lure the Spanish international playmaker away from Spotify Camp Nou during the recent winter transfer period.

According to sources cited by Sport, Al-Qadsiah presented Olmo with a substantial four-year contract proposal valued at €40 million. Despite the lucrative terms, the Barcelona player reportedly chose to decline the offer, expressing a firm desire to remain in Catalonia and avoid a second departure from the region.

As part of their ambitious recruitment strategy, Al-Qadsiah had reportedly proposed a €60 million transfer fee to Barcelona for Olmo’s services, even signaling a willingness to increase their bid if necessary. However, their aspirations were ultimately thwarted when the 27-year-old made it unequivocally clear that he would not accept any proposal from the Saudi club's officials.

Speculation Surrounding Olmo's Barcelona Future Intensifies

To date, Olmo’s current stint at Barcelona has been less impactful than anticipated. While he has showcased flashes of his undeniable quality, his overall consistency has not reached the levels expected of a player for whom the Catalan giants reportedly paid €60 million in the summer of 2024.

Consequently, it is perhaps unsurprising that his position at the club is now under increasing scrutiny.
