Getafe Finalizes Permanent Transfer of Bernabeu Hero Martin Satriano
Getafe has secured its first summer signing ahead of schedule, confirming that Martin Satriano, renowned for his heroic performance at the Santiago Bernabéu, will remain at the Coliseum on a permanent basis.
Satriano initially joined on loan from Olympique Lyon in January and quickly established himself as a key starter under coach Jose Bordalas. As one of five loan acquisitions during the winter transfer window, his contribution has been substantial, helping Getafe significantly climb the league table in February and March.
Getafe Confirms Permanent Acquisition of Satriano
The loan agreement for Satriano included a purchase option, which Getafe has now activated, announcing his permanent stay at the club. Satriano has committed to a four-year contract, extending until 2030. While the club did not disclose the transfer fee, Transfermarkt reports that Getafe will pay €6.5 million for the forward.
Satriano's Impact at Getafe
Since his arrival, Satriano has started all ten La Liga matches under Bordalas, missing only 13 minutes of play. During these appearances, he has netted three goals, notably scoring the winning goals against Villarreal and Real Madrid. The strike against Real Madrid, a stunning volley, secured Getafe's second-ever victory at the Bernabéu.
The Uruguayan international has experienced a varied career path since his €2.4 million move from Nacional to Inter Milan in 2020. Following stints at Brest, Empoli, and Lens, he joined Lyon on transfer deadline day last summer. However, with the arrival of Endrick Felipe at Stade Gerland, Satriano sought another move, finding success and thriving as a diligent forward alongside Luis Vazquez in 2026.
Getafe Aims to Retain Key Loan Players
Beyond Satriano, strike partner Luis Vazquez and defender Zaid Romero have also been pivotal in Getafe's recent resurgence. Reports from Marca indicate that Vazquez, along with fellow loanees Veljko Birmancevic and Sebastian Boselli, are all expected to stay for the upcoming season. Although Getafe lacks a buy option for Club Brugge's Romero, the club is eager to secure his continued presence.
