Inter Reduces Bastoni Asking Price Amid Barcelona and Liverpool Interest
Reports from Italy indicate that a transfer for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is becoming increasingly attainable for Barcelona. The Italian international is among the players Inter is considering selling this summer and has also attracted significant interest from Premier League club Liverpool.
Just last month, Bastoni appeared set to sign a new contract with the Milanese club. However, a shift in Inter's strategy means they are now open to listening to offers for the player. While a fee of around €70 million was previously mentioned as sufficient to secure Bastoni's departure—who has two years remaining on his current deal—new information suggests a more flexible approach.
Inter Open to Offers Around €50 Million
Sources now report that Inter might be willing to accept a fixed fee as low as €50 million, supplemented by additional variables. The Nerazzurri are planning a squad rebuild this summer, viewing Bastoni as both an expendable asset and a valuable means of generating funds. The 26-year-old has recently faced criticism from Inter supporters, having been routinely booed and widely condemned for a controversial dive against AC Milan.
Barcelona Move Appeals to Bastoni
Barcelona's interest in Bastoni is not new, and reports from Matteo Moretto suggest that the defender would be eager to join the Catalan giants. He is also the preferred choice of Barcelona's Director of Football, Deco. However, it remains uncertain whether Barcelona will allocate substantial funds for a defender, as their primary transfer target is currently a centre-forward. Acquiring Bastoni in addition might exceed their financial capabilities.
Liverpool has also been linked with Bastoni, and financial constraints would likely not be an issue for the Merseyside club. Nevertheless, if the deal becomes significantly more feasible, Barcelona might be tempted by the opportunity to make their first major defensive investment since signing Jules Kounde.
