Real Madrid defender brings forward injury return date

Real Madrid has faced numerous injury challenges this season, with Eder Militao's absence being particularly impactful. The Brazilian central defender has been sidelined since December due to a severe hamstring injury, and after four months of being sorely missed, he is nearing his highly anticipated comeback.

Last week, Militao resumed training activities, integrating with his teammates in recent days. According to Diario AS, he is reportedly eager to mark his return to competitive play immediately following the international break, when Real Madrid visits Mallorca at Son Moix.

While an April return was initially projected for Militao, current reports suggest he is on track. Instead of a later re-entry, he is pushing to be available for the crucial early phase of the season's closing fixtures, commencing with the match against Mallorca.

Real Madrid Plans Cautious Reintegration for Militao

Despite Militao's apparent eagerness to reclaim his starting position quickly, particularly with an eye on proving his fitness for the 2026 World Cup, Real Madrid, under the guidance of Alvaro Arbeloa, is resolute about not rushing his return. It's improbable he will start either leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich. However, should Los Blancos advance, he is expected to be fully prepared for a potential semi-final clash against teams like Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool.

Even with a cautious approach to Militao's reintegration, Real Madrid's need for his presence is pressing. The club has frequently faced challenges in rotating its central defenders, a consequence of intermittent injury issues affecting Antonio Rudiger, Dean Huijsen, Raul Asencio, and David Alaba. While all four are currently fit, the team's defensive strength and overall performance are anticipated to significantly improve with the Brazilian's return.
