Sporting director leading Atletico Madrid push for Barcelona forward

Barcelona is expected to offload one of its two current strikers during this summer's transfer window. While Robert Lewandowski's departure, whose contract ends in June, has long been anticipated, speculation surrounding Ferran Torres' future has intensified recently.

Ferran began the season strongly, but his form has significantly declined since the new year. He has managed just three goals in his last 21 appearances across all competitions. Amid this challenging period, Barcelona has decided to entertain offers for his services – a development that has caught the attention of Atletico Madrid.

According to Matteo Moretto (via Marca), Atleti are keenly interested in acquiring Ferran. Notably, sporting director Mateu Alemany is the driving force behind Los Colchoneros' interest, aiming to secure the player for a second time after previously bringing him to Barcelona from Manchester City in the winter of 2022.

Moretto notes that Barcelona has not yet made a definitive decision on whether Ferran will be allowed to leave this summer. In the meantime, Atleti and Alemany will undoubtedly keep a close watch on his situation.

Atletico Eyes Brazilian Midfield Talent

As per the same report, Atleti is also looking to bolster its midfield options with the signing of Andre. The Corinthians star, who was previously close to joining AC Milan, is considered a top talent within the offices of the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, with a number of club officials reportedly "speaking wonders of him."

It remains to be seen who Atleti will ultimately sign this summer, but all signs point to another active transfer window for the club as they seek to finally close the gap on Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga hierarchy.
