According to former Bundesliga striker Jan Aage Fjortoft, Liverpool is expected to pay a total package valued at approximately €130 million to secure the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
Reports emerged last week indicating Wirtz had informed Bayern Munich of his preference, stating he did not wish to move to the Allianz Arena and was instead eager to join Liverpool.
Liverpool are reportedly accelerating discussions with Leverkusen in an effort to finalize the transfer swiftly.
Speculation had initially suggested that Leverkusen valued Wirtz, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, at a substantial €150 million.
However, Fjortoft indicated that Liverpool would likely not need to pay this full amount, suggesting the higher €150 million valuation was specifically aimed at Bayern Munich.
The former Bundesliga player then shared the figure he anticipates Liverpool paying for the player.
In a post on X, Fjortoft explained that while Leverkusen`s price was indeed €150 million when Bayern seemed the most probable destination, he understands the price for Liverpool, as a club abroad, would be lower. He stated he`d “been told” the package would be approximately €130 million, which he noted is equivalent to £110 million.
The article also recalls that Liverpool was previously willing to spend over £110 million on Moises Caicedo from Brighton, before the midfielder ultimately chose to sign for Chelsea.
Given Wirtz`s apparent strong desire to move to Anfield, Liverpool will likely aim to finalize this transfer in the near future.
