Germany Slips in UEFA Coefficient Rankings, Bayern Stays Third

Bundesliga News

Germany`s position relative to Europe`s top football leagues worsened after a less-than-stellar performance by Bundesliga clubs in continental competitions this season. Although five German teams participated in the Champions League, they collectively earned fewer coefficient points compared to their counterparts in England, Spain, and Italy.

The Premier League has reclaimed its status at the top of the rankings with a coefficient of 29.464, having finished outside the top two last term. The margin separating the Bundesliga (18.421) and Ligue 1 (17.928) has become quite narrow following PSG`s European campaign.

Furthermore, the points difference between third-placed Serie A (21.875) and the Bundesliga is more substantial than the gap between Germany`s top division and the eighth-ranked Eredivisie (15.250).

In the crucial five-year coefficient ranking, which dictates national association spots in UEFA tournaments, the Bundesliga managed to hold onto fourth place. However, their performance this season allowed the top three leagues to significantly extend their lead, creating a notable gap.

Focusing on individual club coefficients over the past five years, Bayern Munich maintains its third position, trailing only Real Madrid and Manchester City. Other German clubs featured in the top 20 are Borussia Dortmund (8th), Bayer Leverkusen (13th), and RB Leipzig (20th).

UEFA coefficients are calculated based on the results of clubs participating in European club competitions over the last five seasons. They are used to rank associations and individual clubs.
