Habib Diarra Completes Sunderland Medical Ahead of Potential Club Record Move

Football News

According to a report from French publication L’Équipe, 21-year-old Habib Diarra has successfully passed his medical examination ahead of a transfer from Strasbourg to Sunderland. The midfielder`s move to the recently promoted Premier League club is expected to set a new club record fee for Sunderland, reportedly valued at €35 million.

Although clubs like Leeds United, AC Milan, and Eintracht Frankfurt also showed interest in the young Senegalese player, Diarra is said to have favored a switch to the Stadium of Light. He is now expected to finalize a lengthy contract with the North East England club following the successful medical.

Sky Sports News understands that Diarra is viewed as a potential successor to Jobe Bellingham at Sunderland, who recently departed for Borussia Dortmund, following his brother Jude to the German club. Diarra would become the second player arriving from Ligue 1 this summer for Sunderland, after former Lorient midfielder Enzo Le Fée also made the move permanently after the club`s promotion.
