Following a standout season where she was recognized as the best goalkeeper in Serie A and included in the league`s official Team of the Season, Icelandic international Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir has made her move to Inter permanent. The club has confirmed they have completed the permanent transfer of her registration rights from Bayern Munich.

The highly-rated 21-year-old goalkeeper (born in 2003) has committed her future to the Nerazzurri, signing a four-year contract that will keep her at Inter until June 30, 2029.

In an official club statement, FC Internazionale Milano announced: “FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the permanent transfer of Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir. The Icelandic goalkeeper born in 2003, has signed a contract with the Club until June 30, 2029.”

The statement further highlighted her significant contribution: “Arriving in the summer of 2023 [Correction: Based on the season mentioned, Summer 2023 is the likely arrival for the 2023-2024 season], Cecilía immediately made her mark in her first season in black and blue. Awarded as the best goalkeeper in Serie A Femminile, the Icelandic shot-stopper collected 24 appearances between the league and Coppa Italia, keeping 10 clean sheets and proving decisive on multiple occasions. Always pivotal between the posts, she distinguished herself with spectacular saves, the security she transmitted to the team, and a quiet yet constant leadership.”

Runarsdottir`s permanent signing is a major boost for Inter Women as they secure one of the league`s top talents between the posts. She is also expected to feature for Iceland in the upcoming European Championship.
