Henrikh Mkhitaryan is known for being a player who speaks his mind directly, without trying to please others, whether they are teammates, fans, or anyone else. He states that he listens when others speak, but when he does talk (which isn`t often), it`s always for the benefit of the team. Despite speaking infrequently, the midfielder`s words carry weight.
In a conversation with Repubblica, the Inter midfielder touched upon various topics, ranging from manager Inzaghi to Chivu, the Club World Cup, and reflecting on the disappointing Champions League final loss against PSG, among other subjects.
Mkhitaryan also mentioned his teammate Mehdi Taremi, who is reportedly in Iran amidst the ongoing conflict. Mkhitaryan confirmed they are in touch and Taremi is doing alright. He tries not to bother Taremi too much, understanding that many people are contacting him about his situation. Taremi sending well wishes for the Club World Cup was deeply appreciated by the team, seen as a significant gesture. Mkhitaryan expressed distress over the situation and hopes the conflict ends as soon as possible.
When asked if he would stand by his previous comment about Inter being “unplayable,” Mkhitaryan responded directly: “I didn`t claim we are always unplayable, but rather that we were in specific matches due to the attitude we showed on the pitch. Absolutely, I would say it again; that is my belief. If someone then makes fun of me, I simply don`t care.”
