Bundesliga News

Bayern Munich have officially completed the signing of central defender Jonathan Tah from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

The 29-year-old player, who had previously announced his departure from Leverkusen after a decade at the club, has put pen to paper on a contract with Bayern running until 2029 at the Allianz Arena.

“I’m very happy to be at Bayern. I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day so that we’re successful as a team and win lots of trophies together.”

Career Path

Tah began his professional career at Hamburg, making his senior debut at the age of 17 during the 2013/14 season, where he made 16 top-flight appearances.

Following a season in Bundesliga 2 with Fortuna Düsseldorf, he made the move to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the BayArena and developed into a senior Germany international, earning his first cap in March 2016 against England.

He was a crucial figure in Xabi Alonso`s historic title-winning Leverkusen side in the 2023/24 campaign, contributing four goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances. Over his ten years at Leverkusen, he made a total of 402 competitive appearances for the club.
