Kochorashvili Finds His Stride: ‘Incredible’ Adaptation at Sporting CP

Football News

Georgian international midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili, a recent acquisition for Portuguese champions Sporting CP, has expressed profound satisfaction with his early days at the Lisbon club. Arriving from Spanish side Levante, the 26-year-old has quickly found his footing within the squad currently undergoing pre-season training in Lagos, Algarve.

Speaking from the team`s camp, Kochorashvili described his adaptation process as “incredible” and notably “very easy.” He attributed this smooth transition primarily to the support received from both the club`s operational staff and, significantly, the warm reception from his new teammates.

“Incredible. The truth is that the adaptation was very easy,” Kochorashvili stated. “First because the people who work at the club helped me a lot, then it’s incredible to share the dressing room and the whole day with my teammates, because they help me with everything, not just on the field, but also off the field.”

He added that the positive environment has made him feel remarkably integrated in a short time. “It feels like I haven’t been here two weeks, but rather two, three years, and that’s not easy to achieve. I feel part of the team and part of the club,” he remarked, highlighting the rapid sense of belonging.

Kochorashvili was clear about his personal and team ambitions for the upcoming season. His primary goal is straightforward: “My ambition for this season is to win the championship.” He confirmed that this aspiration was a driving factor behind his decision to join Sporting CP.

Regarding his contribution to the team, the midfielder emphasized dedication and a willingness for mutual growth. “I can give many things [to the team], I will go onto the field giving my maximum,” he guaranteed. He also touched upon the dynamic within the midfield unit, stating his intention to learn from his colleagues while also offering his own perspective on the game. “I am here to help, whether inside or outside the field… I will learn a great deal and I will make sure they also learn some things from my part,” he explained.

The Georgian also took a moment to praise Sporting`s captain, Morten Hjulmand, noting that training alongside the Dane quickly revealed his leadership qualities. “After training with him [Hjulmand], you can see why he is the leader of the team,” Kochorashvili observed.

The team`s focus remains on pre-season preparations, including upcoming friendly matches against Celtic and Sunderland at the Estádio Algarve, and a final test against Villarreal at the Estádio Nacional. The competitive season will officially commence with the Supertaça encounter against rivals Benfica on July 31st.
