Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic is reportedly dreaming of wearing the Roma shirt. After receiving a symbolic green shirt from Mile Svilar last March, the forward is now hoping to don the red one with the number 9, left vacant by Tammy Abraham. Roma`s interest has led him to put a well-advanced negotiation with Leeds United on hold, preferring to await a potential call from the Capital club. He is eager to play in European competitions and remain in Serie A, where he has already scored 18 goals in two seasons.
Krstovic is seen as the ideal profile for Gasperini, possessing grit, physicality, and a knack for scoring. The coach had previously sought him during his time at Atalanta and is now pushing to bring him to Roma, convinced he can complete the attacking department alongside Dybala and Dovbyk. However, Lecce is demanding 25 million euros. Roma`s management could attempt to lower the cost with a deal structure involving a paid loan, a buy option or obligation, and a percentage on a future resale. They might also include counterparts like Cherubini, a player reportedly appreciated by the Salento club.
Alternatively, Roma is also evaluating George Mikautadze of Lyon. The Georgian is highly liked but risks becoming the subject of an auction, partly due to the French club`s need to generate funds by July 10th. Evan Ferguson from Brighton has also been proposed, but his estimated price of 25 million euros advises caution from the Roman side.
