A significant development for French football broadcasting!
The Professional Football League (LFP) has officially confirmed the launch of its dedicated channel for broadcasting Ligue 1 matches, set to begin with the next season on August 15.
According to a statement on the official LFP website, a key strategic initiative was unanimously approved on July 1 by the college of Ligue 1 club presidents, the LFP Media Supervisory Committee, and the LFP Board of Directors. This initiative involves the establishment of a fully dedicated TV and digital platform for Ligue 1, which will be managed and operated by LFP Media.
This new channel will show eight of the nine matches played each weekend. The remaining ninth match will be broadcast by beIN Sports, ensuring a revenue of 78.5 million euros for the LFP. The remainder of the French championship`s broadcast revenue will now rely on the number of subscribers to this new platform. The specific methods for distributing the channel have not yet been disclosed.
However, the organization has already announced the monthly subscription price for the channel: €14.99, with no binding contract required.
The LFP is scheduled to hold a press conference on July 10 to provide more detailed information about this new project, which represents a pivotal moment in the history of French football.
