PSG's Request to Postpone Lens Match Sparks Controversy Over Fixture Congestion & Fairness
Paris Saint-Germain has formally requested the postponement of its Ligue 1 match against Lens, originally scheduled for April 11. This crucial fixture pits PSG against their closest rivals in the standings and falls directly between their two UEFA Champions League encounters with Liverpool. The French Professional Football League (LFP) is currently considering the request, with precedents such as Strasbourg's similar plea for a Europa Conference League-related fixture change offering a potential justification for approval.
However, Lens reiterated its strong disapproval on Monday, emphasizing its commitment to competitive fairness, clear regulations, and respect for all stakeholders in the league. The club's stance highlights a dedication to equitable competition, expressing dissatisfaction with a potential rescheduling that could impact the integrity of the race for top positions.
