Luis Zubeldia Leaves Sao Paulo, Hernan Crespo Takes Charge

Football News

São Paulo Futebol Clube announced on Monday morning, June 16, the termination of their relationship with coach Luis Zubeldía. The 44-year-old Argentine coach leaves the club by mutual agreement after one year and two months at the helm. Zubeldía arrived in April 2023 with a project aimed at revitalizing the club. Under his leadership, the team played a total of 85 matches, achieving 38 wins, 27 draws, and 20 losses. This record reflects an inconsistent journey.

Not only the coach but also part of his technical staff will depart, specifically assistants Maxi Cuberas, Carlos Gruezo, and Alejandro Escobar, fitness coach Lucas Vivas, and analyst Carlos Burbano. São Paulo management emphasized that the separation discussions took place in a climate of mutual respect. Simultaneously, the club has reached an agreement with Hernán Crespo, a former forward and experienced international coach, who has been called upon to lead the Tricolor in this new phase.
