Manchester City Forward Available for €60-65m Amidst Barcelona Interest

Barcelona faces a challenging summer in their quest for a Robert Lewandowski replacement, with the veteran striker expected to depart. Doubts linger about the Catalan club’s financial capacity and willingness to secure an elite striker, leading them to shift focus from their primary target.

Initially, Barcelona reportedly considered Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, but the significant cost of his transfer is said to have deterred the club. Consequently, their attention has turned to João Félix for the No. 9 position. However, Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to sell the Brazilian, demanding at least €100 million for his signature.

According to The Daily Briefing, Manchester City is open to negotiating a deal for Omar Marmoush this summer, with a valuation of approximately €60-65 million. The Egyptian forward, who has struggled to secure consistent game time, was previously linked with Barcelona earlier in the season as a potential option for the center-forward role. While Marmoush is not actively seeking a transfer, he would be receptive to leaving if an attractive offer materializes.

Barcelona has been credited with an interest in Marmoush, but Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have also explored his signing in the past. Given that Marmoush was acquired for €75 million 18 months ago and has had a less impactful tenure at Manchester City, Barcelona may see an opportunity to negotiate a lower price. The 27-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract.

Marmoush offers versatility and the ability to link play in midfield, though his scoring record might not align with Barcelona’s expectations. In 59 appearances for City, Marmoush has scored 16 goals and provided six assists. His profile also represents a notable departure from players like Félix or Lewandowski, potentially indicating a desire from new coach Hansi Flick for a more physically imposing No. 9.
