Manchester United is reportedly intensifying its pursuit of Brentford`s attacking player, Bryan Mbeumo.
After their initial offer, valued up to £55 million ($74.4 million), was rejected by Brentford earlier this month, Manchester United has reportedly returned with a higher proposal. The new bid is said to exceed £60 million ($81.1 million) as the club aims to bring the 25-year-old Mbeumo to Old Trafford.
Bryan Mbeumo has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, with Tottenham Hotspur being among the reported suitors. However, it is understood that Mbeumo himself prefers a move to the Red Devils.
United has been monitoring the Cameroon international`s situation for some time. His current contract is set to expire after the 2025–26 season, although Brentford holds an option to extend it for an additional year.
Brentford has previously indicated that they are not entirely against the idea of Mbeumo departing, but a transfer for their forward, who netted 20 goals, would only be considered if a substantial offer is received. Manchester United is hopeful that their latest, improved bid meets the requirements of the West London club.
Last season, Mbeumo formed a highly effective attacking duo in the Premier League alongside Yoane Wissa. If his move to United materializes, the expectation is that he will create a new potent attacking partnership with recent Red Devils acquisition, Matheus Cunha.
Following a significantly underwhelming 2024–25 campaign, which saw the beginning of the Amorim era coincide with the club`s worst Premier League performance to date, the Red Devils are actively working in the transfer market to ensure a dramatically different outcome for the 2025–26 season.
