According to reports from La Provence, French club Olympique de Marseille are expressing interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, who is 22 years old. The Belgian international is already a sought-after player, appearing on the radar of clubs in both the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga.
Marseille are actively searching for a new winger this summer transfer window. This comes after the departure of 23-year-old Luis Henrique, who completed a transfer to Internazionale Milan. However, the club has reportedly not yet made significant headway in identifying and securing a suitable replacement for the Brazilian player.
Previously, there were suggestions that Marseille might target Bakayoko’s PSV teammate, Noa Lang, 26. However, the Dutch forward now seems poised to move to Serie A side Napoli. Furthermore, interest in FC Copenhagen`s promising 19-year-old Roony Bardghji reportedly cooled and collapsed due to concerns regarding his physical fitness.
La Provence indicates that Marseille`s pursuit of Bakayoko has not progressed rapidly. The Marseille-based publication suggests that PSV is merely aware of Marseille`s interest in their player, while other clubs tracking Bakayoko have seemingly made more concrete proposals or advances.
Bakayoko`s current contract with the Dutch champions is set to expire in the summer of 2026. This contractual situation could potentially put pressure on PSV to consider selling the winger during the current summer window, rather than risking the possibility of losing him on a free transfer when his deal runs out.
