Gianfranco Matteoli, a former midfielder from Inter`s historic record-breaking team, appeared on Radio Anch`Io Sport on Radio Rai to discuss the Nerazzurri`s defeat in the Champions League final against PSG.
Matteoli commented, “Inter arrived completely worn out for this match; the players were drained. The final was disastrous. PSG showed more freshness; it seemed like the Inter players had never played football before this game, and that`s not normal for a team like Inter.”
Memory of President Ernesto Pellegrini:
“We were all very attached to the president. I have a special memory: every time he saw me, he would tell me he had made a foolish mistake [fesseria] in selling me. He always repeated it. A great president and an exceptional person in every way.”
The Acerbi Situation with the National Team:
“Refusing the Azzurri shirt is something that doesn`t make sense. Perhaps he is realizing that years are passing. Maybe there are other young players that Spalletti has already identified who can gain experience for the future.”
Could Frattesi`s Future Still Be at Inter?
“Frattesi is a very important player, good at making late runs from deep `with lights off` [stealthily] and scoring goals. A midfielder who scores 6-7 goals is important for the cause. If I were Inter, I would hold onto Frattesi tightly.”
