Burnley, the newly promoted Premier League side, have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Max Weiss. The Clarets, who finished last season with an impressive 100 points in the Championship, are bolstering their squad ahead of the demanding Premier League campaign by signing the goalkeeper born in 2004 from German 2. Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC. This marks the first time Weiss will play outside of Germany, having signed a four-year contract with Burnley, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Speaking about his move to Turf Moor, Weiss expressed his enthusiasm: “I`m really excited to be here. It`s a great club with big ambitions, and all the conversations I`ve had with the people here have been very positive. The training ground facilities are fantastic, the pitches are beautiful, and I can`t wait to start pre-season and meet the rest of the squad.”

An official statement from the club confirmed the transfer: “Burnley is pleased to confirm the arrival of goalkeeper Max Weiß from Karlsruher SC on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.”

Born in Speyer, Germany, the young keeper developed through the youth academies of TSG Hoffenheim and SV Sandhausen before joining the Karlsruher SC academy in 2019. After impressing during his time there, he signed his first professional contract with the club in 2022.

He became the starting goalkeeper for Karlsruher SC during the 2023/24 season, playing in every league match and contributing to the club`s eighth-place finish in the Bundesliga.2.

On the international stage, Weiss has represented Germany at the U18, U19, and U20 levels. He is set to continue his development at Burnley in Lancashire.
