Official: Krauß joins Köln on loan with purchase option

Bundesliga News

Tom Krauß has officially completed a move to 1. FC Köln. The 24-year-old midfielder joins the club from fellow Bundesliga side Mainz on a one-year loan agreement.

The deal includes a purchase option for Köln, allowing them to sign the player permanently next summer. Should the club decide to exercise this option, the transfer fee is expected to be in the range of €3.5 to 4 million, payable after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

Furthermore, the purchase clause contains a condition that makes the move obligatory. If 1. FC Köln successfully manages to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga, they will be required to pay the aforementioned sum regardless of whether they initially planned to make the transfer permanent.

Last season, Krauß spent time on loan at VfL Bochum. He made 14 appearances for the team before they were ultimately relegated from the top flight.
