Football veteran Olivier Giroud is making a highly anticipated return to France! LOSC Lille officially confirmed on Tuesday evening the free transfer signing of the legendary forward, who is also the all-time leading scorer for the French national team.
After spending 13 years playing outside of France, including a recent spell in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC, Giroud has committed to joining Les Dogues for the 2025-2026 season.
Prior to his move to Lille, Giroud had joined LAFC in the summer of 2024 following two productive seasons with AC Milan. He made 27 appearances across all competitions during his time in the United States.
The signing of Giroud aligns with Lille`s strategy to complement their younger talents with experienced players capable of taking on leadership roles and helping the team compete at the highest level.
A French champion with Montpellier in 2012 and the prolific top scorer for the French national team with 57 goals, Giroud now returns to the league where his professional career in France began, 13 years after his departure. This marks a full circle moment for the striker.
