Carlo Osti, Palermo`s Sporting Director, recently spoke about the club`s new head coach, Filippo Inzaghi. Osti described Inzaghi as a coach possessing a winning mentality and strong moral qualities. He highlighted Inzaghi`s consistent enthusiasm throughout his career, treating every job as a major challenge, which convinced Osti that he was the correct choice for Palermo.
Osti added that Palermo boasts a strong squad and noted Inzaghi`s intention to use the upcoming training retreat to conduct a thorough assessment of all available players and resources.
Speaking himself, the new “Rosanero” coach reflected on his previous role and his move to Palermo. He admitted leaving his heart at Pisa, along with fantastic fans and great players. Inzaghi explained that the conditions for continuing at Pisa were no longer suitable for either party, and he had even considered taking a break. However, the offer from Palermo arrived and successfully rekindled his enthusiasm.
Inzaghi was visibly affected by the warm reception from the Palermo faithful. He described the large crowd that welcomed him as both unexpected and undeserved, feeling he hasn`t yet accomplished anything for the club. He emphasized the need for everyone to understand the true significance of Palermo and expressed his strong hope of living up to expectations. Inzaghi reiterated the great sense of responsibility that comes with leading the team, stating he enjoys these kinds of challenges and hopes to prove himself capable.
He also shared that he has received well wishes from numerous colleagues and friends, specifically mentioning messages from his brother and Gennaro Gattuso. Inzaghi commented that many people have reached out because “everyone knows what Palermo means,” and he expressed his eagerness to begin the new chapter.
