Prato on the Brink: President Commini Halts Investment, Won’t Register for Serie D

Football News

Prato president Stefano Commini, speaking to TV Prato, announced his decision not to invest further and not register the team for the next Serie D championship. He stated, “I`m the only one who has put money in until today, yet I see them continue to ask me to sell, they hold demonstrations. Fine, from now on I will not invest anymore, and I will not register the team for the next championship. I`m curious to see what happens.” His decision comes after negotiations for a sale to a group of about forty local entrepreneurs and professionals, who aimed for a three-year project to return the club to Lega Pro, recently failed.

This consortium had offered 300,000 euros immediately and another 300,000 in case of promotion within two years. They had requested a ten-day exclusive period to conduct “due diligence” on the club`s accounts.

Commini continued, expressing frustration: “I have to take all this mud thrown at me despite having spent several million.” He admitted, “I certainly haven`t achieved significant sporting results in these seasons, and I`ve always admitted that, but everyone here is good at coming out of the Lungobisenzio gates to protest.” He added, “I am ready to sit down at a table and discuss with the consortium, provided that someone from the involved entrepreneurs or their representatives shows up for the meeting. Then we can look at the accounts and analyze the club`s balance sheet.”
