The Premier League is preparing to modify its recently approved spending regulations before they are introduced next season. These changes aim to provide clubs with greater flexibility within the transfer market.
Under the existing Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules, which were approved last November, clubs are restricted to allocating 85% of their revenue towards player-related costs. Any breach of this limit would typically incur a levy payable to the Premier League, which would then be distributed among other clubs. Furthermore, severe overspending, specifically if a club’s expenditure reached 115% of its revenue, could result in a six-point deduction.
Additionally, the current £30 price cap on away tickets has been extended, and will now remain in effect until the end of the 2027-28 season.
