PSV considers Bundesliga alternative for goalkeeper after Peretz talks falter

Following apparent difficulties in negotiations for Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, PSV Eindhoven is reportedly seeking a new option to provide competition for Nick Olij.

According to reports from German sources cited by Voetbal International, Bayer Leverkusen`s 25-year-old Czech international, Matej Kovar, is now the intended target for a goalkeeping reinforcement, as discussions regarding the move for Bayern Munich`s Peretz are not progressing well.

Sky Germany suggests that PSV and Bayer Leverkusen are already in talks regarding a potential transfer for Kovar. PSV had initially hoped to bring Daniel Peretz in on loan with an option to buy to challenge Nick Olij for the starting spot. However, these negotiations have seen little progress for some time, with sources indicating that Bayern`s “high demands” are the reason for the standstill.

Despite reports of a verbal agreement between PSV and Peretz existing for a while, the negotiations for a loan deal including a purchase option have ultimately been unsuccessful.

While PSV has not yet publicly commented on their interest in Kovar, Voetbal International anticipates that the Dutch club may make a permanent offer for the goalkeeper who has 13 caps for the Czech national team.

The 6-foot-5 Kovar joined Manchester United as a young player and spent time on loan at clubs including Swindon Town, Burton Albion, and Sparta Prague. He eventually moved from Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen under the management of Erik ten Hag. At Leverkusen, he served as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Lukas Hradecky and made a total of 32 appearances across all competitions.
