Real Madrid Expresses Interest in Promising Midfielder

Football

Real Madrid is actively seeking to strengthen its midfield during the summer transfer window, aiming to address the departure of experienced players Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić. The club’s sporting department has identified several potential targets, with the final decision resting with the new head coach, Jose Mourinho.

Reports suggest that Mourinho is already involved in the club’s transfer strategy. He has given his approval for the acquisition of a new center-back and a midfielder. For the midfield position, Mourinho has reportedly put forward at least two candidates: Rodri Hernández from Manchester City and Morten Hjulmand, the standout player for Sporting CP and the Danish national team.

A transfer to La Liga might be a possibility for Hjulmand, who has also attracted interest from Atlético Madrid. However, Sporting CP’s president, Rui Borges, has publicly acknowledged Real Madrid’s interest in the player, as reported by Cadena SER.

“I see it as something natural, especially considering the great player he is and the great seasons he has had at Sporting. He is a player who plays many games a year. His quality is evident to everyone. I’m not surprised at all that Real Madrid or another club want him.”

Could Hjulmand Be the Solution for Real Madrid’s Midfield?

While Morten Hjulmand’s playing style may not be a direct replica of Toni Kroos or Luka Modrić, he offers a different but valuable profile. His leadership qualities, evident from his role as captain at Sporting CP, could be a significant asset to a Real Madrid midfield that has appeared to lack a strong vocal presence in the past year.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will pursue Hjulmand. With Denmark not participating in the upcoming World Cup, there will be ample opportunity in the coming weeks to explore a potential deal with Sporting CP.
