Real Madrid’s Transfer Strategy Targets Premier League Duo

Football News

Real Madrid is reportedly planning to leverage a `fear factor` – similar to the approach used to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold – in their pursuit of two Premier League talents next summer: Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté and Arsenal prospect Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Known for their success in the free agent market with notable signings like Kylian Mbappé, Antonio Rüdiger, and David Alaba, Madrid recently secured Alexander-Arnold. Although they had hoped for a free transfer, reports indicate a fee was ultimately paid to ensure his availability for the start of the Club World Cup.

Focusing on potential free agents for 2025, Madrid has identified Konaté and Lewis-Skelly as key targets. Both players` current contracts are set to expire in the summer of 2026, meaning they will enter their final contract year at the start of the 2025-26 season.

The perception within the football world is that top clubs `fear` Real Madrid`s influence and negotiating power in the transfer market. The smooth integration of Alexander-Arnold, including his reported mastery of Spanish upon arrival, points to long-term planning. This could potentially cause concern at Liverpool regarding their ability to prevent Konaté from being swayed by similar advances and running down his contract.

Konaté, a powerful French defender who played a significant role in Liverpool`s Premier League title success, is considered a priority target for Real Madrid. However, Valencia`s Cristhian Mosquera is also understood to be of interest.

Arsenal, on the other hand, appears less troubled by these links concerning Myles Lewis-Skelly compared to Liverpool`s potential worries about Konaté. Reports suggest the North London club remains confident of agreeing a new contract with the young player, with negotiations believed to be at an advanced stage.
