Saudi Arabian Club Shows Interest in Barcelona’s Dani Olmo

Football

Barcelona is currently navigating a period of financial adjustment, with a focus on streamlining their squad and returning within their salary limits. This strategic shift, overseen by Director of Football Deco, suggests that significant player sales might be on the horizon, potentially funding new transfer ventures and offering greater financial flexibility.

One player whose future has drawn attention is Dani Olmo. Signed nearly two years ago for a substantial €55 million from RB Leipzig after an impressive Euro 2024 campaign, the Spain international has yet to consistently live up to his price tag. While he has shown flashes of his undeniable talent, a lack of sustained form and consistency has seen him fall behind Fermin Lopez in the current pecking order at Camp Nou.

Al-Qadsiah Initiates Discussions with Barcelona Regarding Olmo

Reports from Marca indicate that Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah has been closely monitoring Olmo. Officials from the club have reportedly attended matches to scout him in person and have since established contact with Barcelona representatives. However, it’s important to note that Al-Qadsiah has not yet submitted a formal offer for the player, nor has Olmo himself received a concrete proposal from the Saudi side.

Olmo Committed to Barcelona Despite Interest

Despite the challenges with consistency, occasional injuries, and initial registration hurdles in his first season, Dani Olmo has no intentions of departing Barcelona this summer. He is reportedly content at Camp Nou and is under contract with the club until 2030. Both Director of Football Deco and head coach Hansi Flick consider him an essential component of Barcelona’s current and future plans.

This commitment was arguably hinted at last summer when Barcelona appeared open to exploring interest in Fermin Lopez, who was then seen as Olmo’s primary competitor for a starting spot. However, Lopez has since proven his ability to perform consistently at the highest level, suggesting that the competition between him and Olmo for a place in the squad will continue for the foreseeable future.
