The 22-year-old Ivorian winger for the Seattle Sounders had the opportunity to meet his biggest idol, Ousmane Dembélé, after the match. It was a touching moment, captured and shared by PSG on their official channels.
With sight in only one eye due to a severe infection suffered in the summer of 2023, Minoungou has fought to keep his dream of a professional career alive. “I believe I can do better than someone with two eyes. It`s a matter of mentality,” the player, currently under contract with the US team until 2028, recently stated. After the game, Minoungou (who came on as a substitute in the 71st minute) encountered Dembélé in the stadium corridors. “I swear you`re my absolute hero! I`ve followed you since I was 13!” he said with tears in his eyes before emotionally hugging him. “I adore you, I watch all your games, even before this match, I watched your videos. Thank you!”
Dembélé, who was recovering from a muscle injury and still absent as a precaution, made this an unforgettable moment for Minoungou. It was truly a dream come true.
