Cremonese has successfully achieved promotion to Serie A after a thrilling and well-deserved playoff victory against Spezia. The `grigiorossi` club makes its return to the top division just one year after being relegated in 2023 and having lost the playoff final the previous season.
Among the key figures in Cremonese`s promotion campaign is Jari Vandeputte, a Belgian attacking midfielder. Already recognized as one of the best midfielders in Serie B during the 2023/24 season while at Catanzaro, his transfer was one of the most significant signings in Serie B last summer.
However, things didn`t start easily for him in Cremona. Initially, Vandeputte struggled, often playing out of his natural position and receiving less game time than he was accustomed to. The turning point arrived with the January transfer window and the arrival of Azzi. The former Cagliari player took up the wide role, allowing Vandeputte to shift into a more central attacking midfield position, which is better suited to his abilities. And now, at the age of 29, Vandeputte will finally have the opportunity to test himself in Serie A.
