During Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Espanyol, star player Vinicius Junior engaged in a heated exchange with Espanyol defender Omar El Hilali. Footage captured moments of their verbal sparring on the field.
El Hilali, the Moroccan defender, had a close encounter with Vinicius early in the match, even receiving a red card for a challenge that was later overturned by VAR. The intensity of their contest continued throughout the game.
Vinicius’s Bold Words to El Hilali: “Later You’ll Be Asking for My Shirt”
Post-match footage from Movistar+ revealed a direct exchange between Vinicius and El Hilali. The Brazilian expressed his perceived superiority over the defender.
“You’ll be asking me for my shirt later and I won’t give it to you. Stop being silly, you’re an idiot. You want to fight? If you want to play, let’s play. You’re going to Segunda.”
Later, during a set-piece, Vinicius was heard complaining about El Hilali grabbing his shirt. El Hilali responded by asking what else he was supposed to do. Vinicius retorted, “But why do you have to push? You’re always pushing. I’m calm, brother. No, he’s just stupid. He wants to act stupid to get on TV.”
Vinicius’s Past On-Field Antics
This is not the first time Vinicius’s vocal interactions during matches have drawn attention. Previously, in a Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, he was seen telling teammate Jude Bellingham to “shut your mouth” after a misplaced pass.
