Real Madrid is set to resume play on Tuesday, hosting Alaves at the Bernabeu for their first game following their Champions League elimination. While a victory would narrow the gap to Barcelona to six points, with only seven league fixtures remaining in the 2025-26 season, securing the La Liga title presents a significant challenge for Los Blancos.
Despite the considerable disappointment at Real Madrid after their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, head coach Alvaro Arbeloa remains optimistic about his team’s ability to rebound against Alaves, according to Diario AS.
“I consider myself a person with great strength and energy. I’ve felt the pride Real Madrid has for the game the team played on Wednesday. I look forward to a Bernabéu tomorrow with my family, united and proud of how the team performed. The sentiment on the street is that we were unfairly kept out of the semi-finals. That’s what I’ve sensed.”
Arbeloa Reacts to Future Speculation – “I’m Not Worried”
Following last week’s defeat to Bayern, considerable speculation has surrounded Arbeloa’s future, with various reports linking other managers to his position, including Jose Mourinho. However, his focus remains firmly on the immediate task: the final seven matches of the season.
“That is a decision that is not my responsibility. I am not concerned about my future at all. My concern is for these seven games, and particularly for tomorrow’s. I have direct communication with the club every week, and I have a great relationship, but the only future that concerns me is tomorrow. There are seven games that are more important than they might appear. We have to prove ourselves tomorrow.”
Arbeloa: Real Madrid Fans Are With the Team
On several occasions this season, Real Madrid supporters at the Bernabeu have shown their displeasure with the players. However, Arbeloa does not anticipate this occurring against Alaves, even though it is the club’s first match since their Champions League exit.
“It doesn’t worry me, because I’ve felt on the street that Real Madrid is with the team. We have to play a good game tomorrow, perform well, and earn the applause at the Bernabéu. We must go out with intensity from the moment the match begins.”
