Barcelona’s Top Transfer Target Rejects Liverpool

Football

Barcelona has identified two primary targets for the upcoming summer transfer window: Alessandro Bastoni and Julian Alvarez. Sporting director Deco has been tasked with strengthening the center-back and striker positions, with the club aiming to bring in the Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid players, respectively.

While Barcelona appears to have a strong chance of signing Bastoni, the situation with Alvarez is less certain. The Catalan club has already submitted an offer for the Italian international to Inter, which was initially rejected. However, there is a prevailing sentiment that an agreement is achievable in the coming months, especially as Inter Milan is reportedly willing to lower their valuation in exchange for acquiring one or two players.

Bastoni is reportedly convinced that a move to Barcelona would be the ideal next step in his career. He has made it clear to clubs inquiring about his services that if he were to leave Inter, his only preferred destination would be the La Liga leaders. His representatives have conveyed this preference to multiple interested parties, according to reports.

Liverpool Among Those Rejected

The report highlights that, apart from Barcelona, Liverpool had shown the most significant interest in signing Bastoni this summer. However, the defender has unequivocally stated his desire to move only to Catalonia. This clear stance has prompted the Premier League club to shift their focus to other transfer targets.

Bastoni is said to be a great admirer of Barcelona and is particularly attracted to the prospect of playing under manager Hansi Flick. Personal terms are not expected to be a stumbling block. However, any agreement will remain pending the final approval from the German manager, who is currently prioritizing on-field matters.

Despite these considerations, Barcelona maintains a high level of optimism regarding the potential signing of Bastoni this summer. He is reportedly eagerly awaiting confirmation that Flick has given his approval for the transfer.
