Despite having two years remaining on his contract, securing his transfer is considered a challenging prospect, especially since Chelsea has not indicated any willingness to sell him. Atletico had previously shown interest in the 27-year-old following his impressive displays for Eibar and Getafe, prior to his move to England.

Other potential left-back targets include Espanyol loanee Carlos Romero, who has a €45 million release clause. Sporting CP’s Maxi Araujo, Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown are also reportedly on Atletico’s radar.
