As Barcelona shifts its focus to the upcoming summer transfer window following their Champions League exit and a strong position in La Liga, discussions are reportedly underway regarding the future of young forward Roony Bardghji. While the club aims to manage its salary cap effectively, the futures of other players like Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski are also uncertain, and Marc Casado is expected to depart. Conversely, Barcelona is actively pursuing defender Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan.
According to reports from Sport, Barcelona is deliberating the fate of Roony Bardghji. The Swedish talent initially showcased promising performances earlier in the season but has seen significantly reduced playing time in the latter half, a situation Bardghji himself voiced dissatisfaction with during the March international break.
The Catalan club acknowledges Bardghji’s minimal impact on the salary limit and recognizes his contributions when called upon, often playing a supporting role to Lamine Yamal. Barcelona’s preference is to retain him, believing in his potential to succeed at the club. However, it remains to be seen if Bardghji would accept a similar role next season.
Adding to the complexity, Barcelona has received three formal enquiries for Bardghji from Porto, Stuttgart, and AS Monaco. While a loan move was previously considered last summer after his €2.5 million transfer from Copenhagen (with a 20% sell-on clause), the club is now exploring options.
Barcelona’s intention is to consider a loan deal if Bardghji expresses a desire to leave, viewing him as a long-term prospect. However, a substantial offer could prompt the club to consider a permanent sale. Replacing Bardghji’s limited playing time, which amounts to 616 minutes, could be achieved by slightly increasing Lamine Yamal’s involvement. If Barcelona requires additional funds to pursue other transfer targets, Bardghji might become a casualty of their financial strategy.
